Nutrient - Olive

(Olea europaea)

By Nutri People

The Olive has been called the ‘tree of life’ since Biblical times. Olive leaf extract contains an active substance called oleuropein. Oleuropein is a phytonutrient flavonoid with potent antioxidant activity. It helps protect ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol from going rancid by scavenging excess free radicals, thereby supporting a healthy heart. Using a patented process, ‘l-calcium elenolate’, which is the active substance in oleuropein, is changed into the active ‘d-calcium elenolate’. Olive leaf extract is an excellent immune system support, especially when under challenge and travelling to places where food and drink may be contaminated.

It also helps support the liver with its detox role and helps maintain balanced gut flora.

Yellow-green olive oil is extracted from the fruit of the olive tree, Olea europaea, and has been used since ancient times. Unrefined olive oil is considered the best, as it is taken from the first pressing and so still retains its strong flavour and natural antioxidants, including vitamin E and carotenoids. It is rich in oleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid.
